Is there a delivery fee?
SIM Only orders will be delivered FREE of charge.
SIM + Device orders will be delivered FREE of charge. The delivery fee is covered as part of the Save up to R1000 promotion.
Is there a cancellation policy?
SIM + Device - should you cancel your SIM + Device package in less than 6 months from signup date, or your account falls into arrears, you will automatically be charged a cancellation fee of R999.
Telkom LTE Uncapped SIM Only - should you cancel your Telkom LTE Uncapped SIM package in less than 6 months from signup date, or your account falls into arrears, you will automatically be charged a cancellation fee of R999.
Pure LTE SIM Only - the cancellation fee does NOT apply to Pure LTE SIM Only packages. These packages can be cancelled at any time before the 15th of the month.
What is LTE-A?
LTE-A stands for LTE-Advanced and is more reliable and delivers true 4G speeds. LTE-A is 2-3x faster than regular LTE.
What speeds can I expect?
The MTN Network averages between 10-150Mbps. Telkom's Network averages between 20-40Mbps. Average speeds remain device and coverage dependent and are determined by the external environment around your home and where the router is situated in your home.
Can I use this LTE service anywhere?
The Fixed LTE service is designed to be used at your home, and the SIM card will be locked to the location you provide and your Fixed LTE services will only work at this location.
Do I need to sign up for a contract?
No! At Afrihost, we don't lock you into outlandish contractual commitments. All our packages are month-to-month and can be easily cancelled if you change your mind.
What happens if I sign up in the middle of the month?
All Fixed LTE packages are charged pro-rata. Data will also be allocated pro-rata.
For example, if you sign up halfway through the month you will pay half the price and receive half the data for the rest of the month.
How long does it take to activate after delivery?
Your SIM card should be active within 30 minutes after delivery. In extreme cases it can take up to 48 hours, but this is highly unlikely. Should you have trouble connecting after 30 minutes, please reboot your device and try to connect again. Please contact our Support team if you do not have a connection after 48 hours.
Why are only certain devices allowed to be used with Pure LTE?
Afrihost can only allow devices which have been network approved by MTN and have identified a range of devices which specifically suit a Fixed LTE offer, and which are sometimes offered by competitors. This range of devices includes:
Please note that Pure LTE (MTN) will only work on the above approved devices.If you insert your SIM card into a device that has not been approved by MTN, your SIM card will be blocked and you will lose internet access. You will then have to contact Afrihost Support to get your SIM card unblocked.
Do I need to RICA my SIM card?
Yes. You will need to have your original barcoded Identity Document, as well as a valid proof of residence. Visit our RICA Information page for detailed information.
Can I use the SIM card in another device?
Your Pure LTE (MTN) SIM card is only compatible with the LTE device supplied with your order. For SIM Only packages, only the following approved CAT6 devices will work with your Pure LTE (MTN) SIM card - Huawei B525, Huawei B612, Huawei B618 and ZTE MF286. Please note that you also need to be in the MTN Network coverage area.
Your Telkom SIM card is only compatible with the LTE device supplied with your order. Please note that you also need to be in the Telkom Network coverage area.
Do I need to change my APN settings?
SIM + Device orders
We will preconfigure the LTE device that is shipped with your SIM card - so you do not need to change any APN settings.
If you will be using your new LTE SIM card with your own device, please visit setup.afrihost.com for instructions on how to get connected. In some cases you’ll have to change the Access Point Name (APN) settings on your device, depending on the LTE provider you signed up for.
Can I upgrade or downgrade my package?
Yes. All Fixed LTE packages can be upgraded or downgraded in ClientZone.
Note that package changes will only be effective on the 1st of the following month, regardless of when in the month the request is made or whether it is an upgrade or downgrade. This is a restriction from our providers.
Does unused data roll over at the end of the month?
Pure LTE (MTN) Anytime and Night Time data will roll over for 30 days.
Telkom LTE in-bundle Anytime data rolls over for 30 days. Night Time data does NOT roll over.
How do I top up my data?

Pure LTE (MTN) Anytime top up data will roll over for 30 days from purchase.
Telkom LTEAnytime top up data expires 60 days from purchase. Night Time top up data expires 30 days from purchase.
Is there a limit to how much data I can use on an Uncapped package?
All Pure LTE Uncapped packages are subject to a monthly threshold of 1TB. Once you’ve reached your monthly data limit, your connection speed will be limited to 1Mbps for the remainder of the month.
On the 1st of every month all Telkom LTE Uncapped packages will receive 250GB of data at 10Mbps. Thereafter 50GB will be allocated at 4Mbps. Thereafter you’ll receive uncapped data at 2Mbps for the remainder of the month.
