  • Sign up now and we'll subsidise the LTE modem, saving you up to R1999 on hardware costs. But only while stocks last. Maximum of 3 signups per legal entity (business or individual). 2 Speed and latency

  • Speeds and latency are dependent on a variety of factors such as number of devices connected and signal strength. Telkom's LTE-A Network averages between 20-40Mbps. Average speeds remain device and coverage dependent.

Anytime data vs Night Time data

  • Anytime data can be used anytime of the day. Night Time data is valid from 12am to 7am.

  • Should you cancel your Fixed LTE package in less than 6 months from signup date, or your account falls into arrears, you will automatically be charged a cancellation fee of R999.

Simply use our Coverage Tool to check if you have Fixed LTE coverage in your area. Select your preferred package and sign up. Please remember that Credit Card payments clear immediately, while Debit Orders can take up to 5 days to clear.
02. RICA on delivery
Once you’ve successfully placed your order, delivery usually happens within 7 to 10 working days from payment clearance. The courier will RICA your SIM card on delivery.
03. Plug and play
Unlike ADSL or Fibre, there’s no real installation to get you up and running. Simply insert your SIM, power up the modem and voila! You are all set and can start browsing!

What is LTE-A?

LTE-A stands for LTE-Advanced and is more reliable and delivers true 4G speeds. LTE-A is 2-3x faster than regular LTE.

What speeds can I expect?

You can generally expect speeds between 10-50Mbps. Please note, however, that speeds are determined by the external environment around your home and where the router is situated in your home.

Can I use this LTE-A service anywhere?

You can use the LTE-A service anywhere provided you are within the relevant provider’s (Telkom) coverage area.

General questions

Do I need to sign up for a contract?

No! At Afrihost, we don't lock you into outlandish contractual commitments. All our packages are month-to-month and can be easily cancelled if you change your mind.

What happens if I sign up in the middle of the month?

All Fixed LTE packages are charged pro-rata. Data will also be allocated pro-rata.

For example, if you sign up halfway through the month you will pay half the price and receive half the data for the rest of the month.

How long does it take to activate after delivery?

Your SIM card should be active within 30 minutes after delivery. In extreme cases it can take up to 48 hours, but this is highly unlikely. Should you have trouble connecting after 30 minutes, please reboot your device and try to connect again. Please contact our Support team if you do not have a connection after 48 hours.

SIM and APN

Do I need to RICA my SIM card?

Yes. You will need to have your original barcoded Identity Document, as well as a valid proof of residence. Visit our RICA Information page for detailed information.

Can I use the included SIM card in another device?

Your Telkom SIM card is only compatible with LTE device supplied with your order. Please note that you also need to be in the Telkom Network coverage area.

Do I need to change my APN settings?

Refer to your device's user manual on how to change your APN settings. Not changing the APN will result in you not being able to connect to the internet.

We will preconfigure the LTE device that is shipped with your Telkom LTE SIM card - so you do not need to change any APN settings.

Managing your package

Can I upgrade or downgrade my package?

Yes. All Fixed LTE packages can be upgraded or downgraded in ClientZone.

Note that package changes will only be effective on the 1st of the following month, regardless of when in the month the request is made or whether it is an upgrade or downgrade. This is a restriction from our providers.

Data, usage and topups

Does unused data roll over at the end of the month?

In-bundle Anytime data will roll over for 1 month. Night Time data does NOT roll over.

How do I top up my data?

1. Log into ClientZone or our Mobile App available on Android and iOS.

2. Select the Connectivity section.

3. Navigate to the Fixed LTE package you'd like to Top up.

4. Choose the Topup Type and Amount and finalise the transaction.

For how long is topup data valid?

Your Anytime top up data expires 60 days from purchase and your Night Time top up data expires 30 days from purchase.
