I’ve moved homes several times, and getting fibre up and running has always been a headache. It usually took more than a week, and I never once had it working on the same day I moved in. This time, with Afrihost and Openserve, the experience was completely different. Afrihost kept me in constant communication with regular updates, so I always knew what was happening. On the actual moving day, there was even a missing cable — and they had a technical agent on-site within 2 hours to fix it! I was honestly blown away. Everything was running smoothly the same day I moved in. Their service, reliability, and responsiveness truly set them apart. Afrihost is hands down the best ISP in South Africa.

Ported some numbers to airmobile and have been enormously impressed so far. Everything including the dreaded RICA was completely friction free. The joy of hopefully never having to call MTN for support again is hard to express.

From an educational point of view, I feel companies should help educate people regarding Wi-Fi, internet of things. For those who are less tech savvy customers and just wish that a product should work will dread using optic fiber, especially when setting up devices that might seem challenging if not intimidating. I feel that field agents should be on the field to help speed up any problems. Customers can lose patience with poor responses and service on the ground.

I have been with afrihost for more than 3-years now. Today I received the best service. Today I interacted with Khanyisile M regarding an issue that has been longstanding. I have had numerous interactions with other support personnel( yes I got assisted, they always offer good service) but today I got the service I didn’t even know I needed. The greatest in my humble opinion. Khanyisile M displayed professionalism with good expert knowledge, skills and communication skills. The troubleshooting took time but was worth it, Khanyisile was there every step of the way. I even had to update the device software and Khanyisile was still keeping the whatsapp chat session active, talk about relentless. We got a whiff of that the issue could be and the matter was escalated to a senior then to another company. I was then provided with advice on the way forward along with the reference number (for the call logged with the other company). Khanyisile M is a star! 😊☺️If only Khanyisile M could get a promotion! Or at least handle training of the support personnel! All companies need a Khanyisile M! I am pleased with Afrihost, they have good coverage with exceptional areas(deep deep rural areas), hopefully they’ll expand.

I, frustrated with ISP's, switched to Afrihost in 2012. Never once looked back. Based on my pleasant experience with them, about 15 others followed over. Some had their expenditure lower 7 fold. I found Afrihost a no-nonsens group of friend, exercising impeccable admin.

Getting started with Pure DSL

How is Pure DSL different from other DSL products?

Unlike regular DSL, you do NOT need to pay for a voice landline that you don’t even use. With Pure DSL you only pay for the DSL line rental and data - saving you more than R200 every month!

How to get connected to Pure DSL

Follow our Getting Connected guide for step-by-step instructions.

How long will it take to get connected?

Once you’ve signed up for a Pure DSL package, Openserve will have to install the new DSL services at your premises. This can take up to 14 working days.

Checking Pure DSL coverage

How to check if you have Pure DSL coverage in your area

Use our Coverage Tool to check if DSL is available in your area.

Will all line speeds be available in covered areas?

No, not all line speeds will be available in all covered areas. This is because of infrastructure restrictions on Openserve’s side. Please use our Coverage Tool to check which packages are available in your area.

If you do not have Pure DSL coverage in your area

If DSL is not available in your area, we’ll check if any of our other data solutions are available. You can also choose to give us your details and we’ll let you know as soon as one of our Internet solutions becomes available in your area.

Shaping and prioritisation

Are your DSL packages shaped?

No, all Pure DSL packages are uncapped, unshaped and unthrottled. There are no usage thresholds so you can use as much data as you like, whenever you like. No throttling or shaping will be applied.

General questions

Is the price of the DSL line included in the package price?

Yes, the price you see is the price you pay! All Pure DSL packages are bundled, so the price is for both your data and the line rental, all-inclusive.

Will I have to pay a setup fee?

No, if you sign up with Pure DSL today, we will cover the setup fee of R999. Please note that this is a limited offer and Afrihost reserves the right to change this at any time.

Do I need a copper line to use Pure DSL?

Yes, you’ll need an existing copper line at your premises to connect to Pure DSL. You do not, however, need to pay for voice line rental to get connected to Pure DSL. You only need to pay for the DSL line rental and data.

Please note that because Pure DSL is a separate service from regular DSL, Openserve will have to install the new DSL services at your premises. This can take up to 14 working days.

I do not have a copper line, can I get one installed?

Unfortunately Openserve will NOT do any new installations of copper lines.

Can I use my current DSL modem?

Yes, you can use any DSL-ready Wi-Fi modem with Pure DSL. Need a new modem? Check out our DSL Modems and Wi-Fi page for more information.

Will my Pure DSL package be locked to a single location?

Yes, Pure DSL packages are locked to a single location.

Can existing Afrihost DSL clients get Pure DSL?

Yes, existing Afrihost DSL clients can sign up for Pure DSL.

Please note, however, that Pure DSL is a service separate from your existing DSL Internet. You’ll have to sign up for a new package via our website and Openserve will have to install new DSL services at your premises.

Follow our Getting Connected guide for instructions on how to get Pure DSL.

Please note that if you change from an older Afrihost DSL package to Pure DSL, you will NOT be able to change back.
