I have no idea how a service like this has come about. The truth is, I feel our country is riddled with horrible service, often taking advantage of consumers. The CPA (Consumer Protection Act) is of no use. Let’s start with Afrihost’s contact number, which begins with 0800. Most people don’t know that this is completely free for the consumer. Numbers starting with 0860 or 0861, on the other hand, are not free for the caller and use up your minutes, meaning the company or government charges you for the call—even if it’s due to their own fault. The fact that Afrihost uses 0800, in my view, shows an early sign of care for the consumer. From that point on, you get through to sales, which should be remarkable—and it is, just like with many other companies. BUT! What sets Afrihost apart is that the level of attention continues throughout the entire process, unlike many companies I have dealt with. In fact, most companies that eagerly take my monthly direct debit begin to dissolve their care and attention soon after. Calls drop with no callback, and you’re forced to spend countless minutes just trying to reach someone through their endless "select 1 for this…" and "select 5 for that…" options. With Afrihost, it was different. The process was quick, and the technical consultant was truly intent on helping! Even when I visited the walk-in center, the care, consideration, and persistence were evident. They ensured I walked away with exactly what I needed—and in this case, it was something I needed urgently. Now everything is installed, and I no longer have my fingers crossed. I am confident that even if problems arise, I will be treated with the same care as a new, incoming client. I’m also quite certain that I can speak for a large majority of my ward/area when I say this. Too often, companies forget about their existing clients and focus solely on making new sales. In my opinion, keeping current clients happy goes a long way in ensuring further revenue, and "word of mouth" is far more valuable than any flashy marketing campaign. Thank you to all at Afrihost who helped with such care—everyone I encountered did an excellent job.

Getting started with Pure DSL

How is Pure DSL different from other DSL products?

Unlike regular DSL, you do NOT need to pay for a voice landline that you don’t even use. With Pure DSL you only pay for the DSL line rental and data - saving you more than R200 every month!

How to get connected to Pure DSL

Follow our Getting Connected guide for step-by-step instructions.

How long will it take to get connected?

Once you’ve signed up for a Pure DSL package, Openserve will have to install the new DSL services at your premises. This can take up to 14 working days.

Checking Pure DSL coverage

How to check if you have Pure DSL coverage in your area

Use our Coverage Tool to check if DSL is available in your area.

Will all line speeds be available in covered areas?

No, not all line speeds will be available in all covered areas. This is because of infrastructure restrictions on Openserve’s side. Please use our Coverage Tool to check which packages are available in your area.

If you do not have Pure DSL coverage in your area

If DSL is not available in your area, we’ll check if any of our other data solutions are available. You can also choose to give us your details and we’ll let you know as soon as one of our Internet solutions becomes available in your area.

Shaping and prioritisation

Are your DSL packages shaped?

No, all Pure DSL packages are uncapped, unshaped and unthrottled. There are no usage thresholds so you can use as much data as you like, whenever you like. No throttling or shaping will be applied.

Yes, the price you see is the price you pay! All Pure DSL packages are bundled, so the price is for both your data and the line rental, all-inclusive.

Will I have to pay a setup fee?

No, if you sign up with Pure DSL today, we will cover the setup fee of R999. Please note that this is a limited offer and Afrihost reserves the right to change this at any time.

Do I need a copper line to use Pure DSL?

Yes, you’ll need an existing copper line at your premises to connect to Pure DSL. You do not, however, need to pay for voice line rental to get connected to Pure DSL. You only need to pay for the DSL line rental and data.

Please note that because Pure DSL is a separate service from regular DSL, Openserve will have to install the new DSL services at your premises. This can take up to 14 working days.

I do not have a copper line, can I get one installed?

Unfortunately Openserve will NOT do any new installations of copper lines.

Can I use my current DSL modem?

Yes, you can use any DSL-ready Wi-Fi modem with Pure DSL. Need a new modem? Check out our DSL Modems and Wi-Fi page for more information.

Will my Pure DSL package be locked to a single location?

Yes, Pure DSL packages are locked to a single location.

Can existing Afrihost DSL clients get Pure DSL?
