Honestly though the prices can be a bit higher the service and quality is fantastic. Rarely ever have issues with the fibre and after getting off the line to fix one issue it was so fast and painless to solve and there was no communication issues whatsoever.

Afrihost have returned all calls and done all they can to assist with my transfer. Their whatsapp service is excellent. They should encourage Openserve not to have a freeze period during one of the busiest times of the year.

Besides the fact that I haven't had wifi for 3 weeks, Afrihost has made every effort to try and assist and resolve the issue which I appreciate. When it is working, it's a great and affordable service so hence my 5 stars.

afrihost provides such an amazing service! it's unbelievable considering that we're in south africa 😅. their internet connection never has any issues. the fact that you can communicate with an actual human being through their whatsapp number is just the cherry on top. the consultants have never failed to assist me with any of my enquiries. they are super friendly, always ready and willing to assist. they also go the extra mile by researching (within minutes) any information of an issue that you're unsure of that they seldom have customers asking about. i'm so happy i chose them as my 'internet service provider'. 10/10!!!

While there is the occasional downtime with fibre, probably due to last mile providers etc, their support is the best, ive been a client for more than 15 years on and off. with everyhting from hosting services and more. I highly recommend them. they are a cut above the rest

  • Although we endeavour to keep our coverage data as accurate as possible, we are reliant on the maps provided to us by Openserve, which may sometimes have slight inaccuracies.
  • The advertised line speeds are a representation of the maximum possible throughput on that package. This speed is dependent on and varies from exchange to exchange as regulated by Openserve. In certain areas, some speeds are not achievable.
  • Due to Openserve infrastructure restrictions, some line speeds may not be available in your area. Check coverage in your area to see which packages are available in your area.
  • All Pure DSL packages are subject to an Acceptable Use Policy.
  • Pure DSL accounts are locked to a single location. The location it gets locked to is the location you supply during sign up.
  • Regular Openserve copper line required to apply for a Pure DSL package. A voice line, however, is not required.
  • Performance is subject to contention. This means that data speeds and latency may be affected by factors outside of Afrihost’s control or demand for bandwidth at any given time.

How long will it take to get connected?

Once you’ve signed up for a Pure DSL package, Openserve will have to install the new DSL services at your premises. This can take up to 14 working days.

Will all line speeds be available in covered areas?

No, not all line speeds will be available in all covered areas. This is because of infrastructure restrictions on Openserve’s side. Please use our Coverage Tool to check which packages are available in your area.

If you do not have Pure DSL coverage in your area

If DSL is not available in your area, we’ll check if any of our other data solutions are available. You can also choose to give us your details and we’ll let you know as soon as one of our Internet solutions becomes available in your area.

Are your DSL packages shaped?

No, all Pure DSL packages are uncapped, unshaped and unthrottled. There are no usage thresholds so you can use as much data as you like, whenever you like. No throttling or shaping will be applied.

General questions

Is the price of the DSL line included in the package price?

Yes, the price you see is the price you pay! All Pure DSL packages are bundled, so the price is for both your data and the line rental, all-inclusive.

Will I have to pay a setup fee?

No, if you sign up with Pure DSL today, we will cover the setup fee of R999. Please note that this is a limited offer and Afrihost reserves the right to change this at any time.

Do I need a copper line to use Pure DSL?

Yes, you’ll need an existing copper line at your premises to connect to Pure DSL. You do not, however, need to pay for voice line rental to get connected to Pure DSL. You only need to pay for the DSL line rental and data.

Please note that because Pure DSL is a separate service from regular DSL, Openserve will have to install the new DSL services at your premises. This can take up to 14 working days.

I do not have a copper line, can I get one installed?

Unfortunately Openserve will NOT do any new installations of copper lines.

Can I use my current DSL modem?

Yes, you can use any DSL-ready Wi-Fi modem with Pure DSL. Need a new modem? Check out our DSL Modems and Wi-Fi page for more information.

Will my Pure DSL package be locked to a single location?

Yes, Pure DSL packages are locked to a single location.

Can existing Afrihost DSL clients get Pure DSL?

Yes, existing Afrihost DSL clients can sign up for Pure DSL.

Please note, however, that Pure DSL is a service separate from your existing DSL Internet. You’ll have to sign up for a new package via our website and Openserve will have to install new DSL services at your premises.
