I have always been very impressed with Afrihost service. I have multiple domains hosted with them, both for websites and mail servers. So far over the past 12 years, I have had about a hand full of complaints from my clients regarding being down, and even then, about half the problems were not even related to Afrihost. We've been with Afrihost/ Vumatel since 2019 - Pleasant service, no hassles, reliable internet connection at all times, I don't recall being without Internet, even with loadshedding and our UPS, our line and experience has been nothing but perfect. Have had nothing but a good experience with Afrihost. Unlike other providers, when there's outages, which do happen, Afrihost is very quick to resolve them with little to no connection interuptions when a problem is being resolved. Stable fibre line, good ping. Afrihost delivers on what they promise and you get what you pay for, which is still the best price out there for the outstanding quality of service you recieve!

I called in and then was directed to use the chat platform. I was a bit apprehensive at first but then I found the agents to be very helpful. They did not just tell me to do a standard router reboot, she kept asking me to run a few tests and even though she got me to realise a higher speed, she went the extra mile and checked the settings on her end and got me the actual speed I was paying for. Well done Afrihost, great platform and good on you for getting competent staff on the frontline. I would recommend Afrihost to anyone.

General terms

Although we endeavour to keep our coverage data as accurate as possible, we are reliant on the maps provided to us by Openserve, which may sometimes have slight inaccuracies.
The advertised line speeds are a representation of the maximum possible throughput on that package. This speed is dependent on and varies from exchange to exchange as regulated by Openserve. In certain areas, some speeds are not achievable.
Due to Openserve infrastructure restrictions, some line speeds may not be available in your area. Check coverage in your area to see which packages are available in your area.
All Pure DSL packages are subject to an Acceptable Use Policy.
Pure DSL accounts are locked to a single location. The location it gets locked to is the location you supply during sign up.
Regular Openserve copper line required to apply for a Pure DSL package. A voice line, however, is not required.
Performance is subject to contention. This means that data speeds and latency may be affected by factors outside of Afrihost’s control or demand for bandwidth at any given time.

Getting started with Pure DSL

Unlike regular DSL, you do NOT need to pay for a voice landline that you don’t even use. With Pure DSL you only pay for the DSL line rental and data - saving you more than R200 every month!

Once you’ve signed up for a Pure DSL package, Openserve will have to install the new DSL services at your premises. This can take up to 14 working days.

Checking Pure DSL coverage

Use our Coverage Tool to check if DSL is available in your area.

No, not all line speeds will be available in all covered areas. This is because of infrastructure restrictions on Openserve’s side. Please use our Coverage Tool to check which packages are available in your area.

If DSL is not available in your area, we’ll check if any of our other data solutions are available. You can also choose to give us your details and we’ll let you know as soon as one of our Internet solutions becomes available in your area.

Yes, the price you see is the price you pay! All Pure DSL packages are bundled, so the price is for both your data and the line rental, all-inclusive.

No, if you sign up with Pure DSL today, we will cover the setup fee of R999. Please note that this is a limited offer and Afrihost reserves the right to change this at any time.

Yes, you’ll need an existing copper line at your premises to connect to Pure DSL. You do not, however, need to pay for voice line rental to get connected to Pure DSL. You only need to pay for the DSL line rental and data.

Please note that because Pure DSL is a separate service from regular DSL, Openserve will have to install the new DSL services at your premises. This can take up to 14 working days.

Unfortunately Openserve will NOT do any new installations of copper lines.

Yes, you can use any DSL-ready Wi-Fi modem with Pure DSL. Need a new modem? Check out our DSL Modems and Wi-Fi page for more information.

Yes, Pure DSL packages are locked to a single location.

Yes, existing Afrihost DSL clients can sign up for Pure DSL.

Please note, however, that Pure DSL is a service separate from your existing DSL Internet. You’ll have to sign up for a new package via our website and Openserve will have to install new DSL services at your premises.
