Fixed Wireless FAQs

LTE-Advanced
What is LTE-A?
LTE-A stands for LTE-Advanced and is more reliable and delivers true 4G speeds. LTE-A is 2-3x faster than regular LTE.
What speeds can I expect?
You can generally expect speeds between 10-50Mbps. Please note, however, that speeds are determined by the external environment around your home and where the router is situated in your home.
Can I use this LTE-A service anywhere?
Yes, provided you are within the Rain Network coverage area.
General Question
How long does it take to activate the mobile services after delivery?
Your SIM Card should be active within 30 minutes after delivery. In extreme cases it can take up to 48 hours, but this is highly unlikely.

Should you have trouble connecting after 30 minutes, please reboot your device and try to connect again. Please contact our Support team at support@afrihost.com if you do not have a connection after 48 hours.
What happens if I sign up in the middle of the month?
If you sign up halfway through the month you will pay half the price and receive half the data for the rest of the month.
Do I need to sign up for a contract?
No! At Afrihost, we don't lock you into outlandish contractual commitments. All our packages are Month-to-Month and can be easily cancelled if you change your mind.
Can I upgrade or downgrade my package?

Yes. All Fixed Wireless packages can be upgraded or downgraded.

Note that package changes will only be effective on the 1st of the following month, regardless of when in the month the request is made or whether it is an Upgrade or Downgrade. This is a restriction from Rain.

Can I use the included SIM Card in another device?
No, unfortunately the Rain SIM Cards are locked to specific device types that are pre-approved for the Rain Network.
RICA
Do I need to RICA my SIM Card?
Yes. You will need to have your original barcoded Identity Document, as well as a valid proof of residence. Visit our RICA Information page for detailed information.
Data usage and topups
Does unused data roll over at the end of the month?
Unfortunately not. Any unused monthly data will expire at the end of each month.
How do I view my usage?
You can easily check your Data usage at any time through ClientZone or via our Mobile App available on Android and iOS.
How do I top up my data?
1. Log into your ClientZone or our Mobile App available on Android and iOS.

2. Select the Connectivity section.

3. Navigate to the Fixed Wireless package you'd like to Top up.

4. Choose the Topup Type and Amount and finalise the transaction.
Does top up data expire?

Data Bundle Topups are valid for 30 days from purchase.

For example, if you purchase a Topup Bundle on the 25th of July, the Bundle will expire on the 23rd of August at 23:59.

Any unused Topup Bundle will be forfeited at 23:59 on the expiry date.
