Most Fibre Networks are Open-Access, which means that any Internet Service Provider (ISP), such as us, that has an agreement with them can provide you with an Internet connection. As an example, you might currently have Fibre through 'Green Internet', which is just one of the ISPs available on the Vumatel, Openserve or MetroFibre etc. network. Switching from them to us is easy, simple and quick!

How Fibre is different from DSL?

DSL is dependent on copper wire infrastructure, which is often unreliable and can be slow if you have a bad line or are far away from your local exchange, whereas Fibre transmits data with pulses of light over an optical cable.

These cables are far more reliable than copper wires and can offer much greater connectivity speeds.

How to get connected to Fibre

Step 01 - Check Fibre coverage
Fibre is still relatively new and currently being rolled out across the country. So you may not have Fibre available in your area just yet. Use our Coverage Map to find out if your area is Fibre ready and which providers are available.

Step 02 - Sign up with Afrihost
In true Afrihost style, we have several affordable, contract-free Fibre packages to choose from, and have multiple Fibre providers working with us to bring you Pure Internet Joy. Simply put in your address, and if you're covered, we'll take it from there and get you connected before you can say Pure Fibre.

Step 03 - Fibre installation
There are three basic steps to getting Fibre, which begins with availability in your neighbourhood. Once the provider has done this initial installation, your area would be Fibre ready. The next step is to have a Fibre line brought onto your property. Once you've signed up for Pure Fibre with Afrihost, the relevant provider will be in touch to help you get the Fibre line installed to your premises.

Step 04 - Pure Fibre Joy!
Once you're all set up, just sit back and enjoy faster internet with HD or 4K streaming, faster downloads, and uninterrupted surfing and gaming. And you can even do this wirelessly across supported devices with the Afrihost dual-band AC WiFi Router, which provides an excellent coverage area and operates on both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies for future-proof, cutting-edge connectivity.

How long will it take to get connected?

This will depend on the turnaround for your installation and activation. Once the line has been installed in your premises it can take up to 5 days for the provider to activate your line. As soon as your Fibre line is active, you can be connected to Pure Internet Joy from Afrihost within 24 hours.

Each provider has a different lead time for installation and activation. If your line is already activated, you'll be connected shortly after you sign up.

Shaping and prioritisation

Are your Fibre packages shaped?

No, all Pure Fibre packages are uncapped, unshaped and unthrottled - There are no usage thresholds so you can use as much data as you like, whenever you like. No throttling or shaping will be applied.

For migrating to Pure Fibre

Migrate to Pure Fibre and you can save up to R5000 on migration fees and hardware costs. Selected providers only.

If you aren't happy with your current ISP and want to experience Pure Internet Joy, we'll credit your Afrihost account to reimburse you for costs incurred in making the switch! We'll automatically zero‑rate migration fees associated with the last‑mile provider and then credit your Afrihost account for the termination costs charged by your previous ISP (up to the remaining balance of the R5000 maximum) when you submit a copy of the termination settlement to us.

Is there a cancellation policy?

Should you cancel your Pure Fibre less than 6 months from activation, or your account falls into arrears, you will be charged a cancellation fee of R999.

The cancellation policy is NOT applicable to Vuma Reach.

Delivery fee.

Is there a delivery fee?

A delivery fee of R249.00 will only be charged if you take a WiFi router as part of your order.

When will my router be delivered?

If you need to get a new Fibre line installed, your router will only be delivered once we receive an installation confirmation from the Fibre provider. If you already have Fibre installed, your router will be despatched at the time of your order.

General questions.

Is the price of the Fibre line included in the package price?

Yes - the price you see is the price you pay! All Fibre packages are bundled, so the price is for both your data and the line rental, all-inclusive.

Will I have to pay a setup fee?

No. If you sign up with Pure Fibre today, you can save up to R5000 on setup costs and we'll send you a Fibre-ready WiFi router at no cost on new installations. Terms and Conditions apply.

Do I need a telephone line to use Fibre?

No! Fibre connects via optical cables that carry data via light, which are completely separate from the Telkom copper wire network.

Can I use my current DSL router?

Probably not, as Fibre works very differently to DSL. But you may, in some cases, be able to use your existing WiFi enabled router to spread your Fibre connection via WiFi. This will depend on which router you have and how the provider installs your Fibre.

Will my Fibre Package be locked to a single location?

Yes, Pure Fibre packages are locked to a single location.

Do you have an Acceptable Use Policy?

Yes, all Pure Fibre packages are subject to our Acceptable Use Policy.

Can existing Afrihost Fibre clients get Pure Fibre?

Yes, existing Afrihost Fibre clients can simply do a package change via ClientZone.

Please note that if you change from an older Afrihost Fibre package to Pure Fibre, you will not be able to change back.

Terms and conditions

General terms

  • The installation and activation fees are prescribed by the last-mile provider, not Afrihost.
  • All packages are for residential signups only. Businesses, unfortunately, cannot sign up for these packages.
  • Although we endeavour to keep our coverage data as accurate as possible, we are reliant on the maps provided to us by our last-mile partners, which may sometimes have slight inaccuracies.

  • Sign up with Pure Fibre today and you can save up to R5000 on setup, activation, migration and hardware costs. Selected providers only.
  • See specific terms under "1 - Installation, cabling and lead times", "2 - Activation fees" and "3 - WiFi router".
  • Afrihost reserves the right to change the promotion at any time. While stocks last. E&OE.

1 - Installation, cabling and lead times

  • The installation fee includes cabling up to 30 metres. If your installation requires additional cabling, a site survey will be done, after which you will receive a quote from the applicable last-mile provider. Should you choose to proceed, you will be liable for any additional costs incurred. The additional cabling is directly payable to the applicable last-mile provider.
  • Installation lead times are a guide based on averages and will vary. Line activation and connection times need to be added for full turnaround estimation.
  • Vuma Reach full terms can be found here.
  • Netstream may, in certain cases, charge you directly for installation. Send the invoice to Afrihost and we will credit your account to cover the installation cost.
  • TT Connect will do a pre-installation survey to calculate the amount of extra cabling required for your installation. TT Connect will bill you directly if additional cabling is required. This quote needs to be signed by you and paid directly to TT Connect. Once paid, send the invoice and proof of payment to Afrihost and we will credit your account to cover the installation cost.
  • The following fibre providers are EXCLUDED from the installation promo. You will be charged the applicable installation fee for the relevant provider during signup.

2 - Activation fees

  • Activation fees are covered for selected Fibre providers by the Save up to R5000 promotion.
  • Activation fees are also applicable on line migrations (when you move from one ISP to another).
  • Frogfoot’s activation fee is only applicable when migrating from another ISP to Afrihost (not applicable to new installs).
  • Open Fibre's activation fee is only applicable when migrating from another ISP to Afrihost (not applicable to new installs).
  • Purple Forest charges different activation fees depending on the area you're in.
    • Depending on the area you're in you'll either get FREE activation (areas with a R1148.85 activation fee) or be charged R599 (areas with a R4600 activation fee).
    • Once your order has been placed, a quote will be sent to you for the additional installation fee if you fall within an area with the higher installation fee. This amount will be charged once the installation is complete.

3 - WiFi router

  • A free to use WiFi router is included with selected providers only.
  • The following fibre providers are EXCLUDED from the free WiFi router promo and no additional WiFi router will be shipped with the order. This is because a WiFi device is already included with the installation at the premises. The free to use clause does NOT apply to these providers.

    • FrogFoot Air
  • Frogfoot Air is strictly a WiFi only service
    • A WiFi device will be installed at your home and no additional WiFi router will be shipped with your order.
    • This device is intended for small properties around 100 square metres.
    • Please note that you CANNOT extend your WiFi and you can only connect a maximum of 10 devices at a time.
    • The free to use clause does NOT apply.

Shaping and prioritisation

  • Pure Fibre packages are uncapped, unshaped and unthrottled - There are no usage thresholds so you can use as much data as you like, whenever you like. No throttling or shaping will be applied.

Delivery

  • A delivery fee of R249.00 will be charged for all router deliveries.
  • For new Fibre installations, router delivery will only be dispatched once the last-mile provider has confirmed your Fibre installation order has been placed.

Cancellation policy

  • Should you cancel your Pure Fibre less than 6 months from activation, or your account falls into arrears, you will be charged a cancellation fee of R999.
  • The cancellation policy is NOT applicable to Vuma Reach.
