It’s Raining MiFis! We are slashing the price of our 3G MiFis by 50% in an unprecedented assault on internetlessness.

We stunned broadband skeptics by extending our Double Mobile data promotion earlier this week. Now we are sweetening our Mobile deal even further by offering 50% off our already subsidised Huawei E5331 3G MiFi devices (Retailing elsewhere at around R1,000). Any member of the public can get the 3G MiFi Device for an once-off price of R398 when they sign up for Contract-Free Afrihost Mobile Data before 5 February 2014.

Hosting Incident Report - 12 January 2014

We experienced an incident at our Gallo Manor Data Centre between 12 and 14 January 2014 affecting our Cloud Hosting services. Our intention is to give a detailed description of the incident in question and how it was resolved.

We experienced a reduction in storage performance on Sunday evening (12 January) during an upgrade intended to improve our Cloud Storage redundancy. This was escalated to senior Afrihost engineers and our team consulted with the storage vendor. Our team worked tirelessly through several nights to resolve the issues.

Afrihost Tribute to Our Greatest Citizen

For many South Africans, the dream of an equal and democratic society seemed very far away for many years. Madiba embodied our country’s struggle for freedom through his own imprisonment on Robben Island for 27 years. But it was his love and forgiveness out of prison which captured the imagination and respect of the entire world. Madiba not only showed that he had put the past behind him and forgiven, but proved that through hard work and unity we could make our country the great nation he envisioned.

Hosting the Future with Afrihost

We are dropping costs for our Hosting Clients yet again! Not satisfied with winning the ISP of the Year for an unprecedented third year in a row at this year’s MyBroadband conference, we will be focussing our attention on making our Cloud and Dedicated Hosting products even more attractive to home and business clients.

We will be dropping our bandwidth costs for Cloud servers to an incredible 97c per GB!! This means that clients who exceed their package traffic threshold will be charged less than R1 per GB for additional traffic, down from R3.50. Excess traffic costs for physical dedicated servers will also drop massively from R7 per GB to just R2.97 per GB, and web traffic on Rack Hosting will drop from R12 per GB to just R5!
