Check your APN Settings

If you've recently updated software or firmware your settings may have changed!

We've noticed that certain mobile devices revert to old or default Access Point Name settings after a firmware or operating system update, so please make sure that your Access Point Name is still set to afrihost, and not myMTN (or another setting). If your settings look correct, please hit the button below to make 100% sure that you are on our data network. If the page does not give you a Success message, please double check your device setup using the instructions below.

How to set up your device

Select your Operating System and follow the easy steps below.

Apple iOS10

  1. Tap on the Settings icon.

  2. In the Settings menu select Cellular.

  3. Select Cellular Data Options.

  4. Select Cellular Data Network.

  5. Under Cellular Data, enter afrihost into the APN field*.

  6. Under the MMS grouping, enter afrihost into the APN field*.

  7. Under the Personal Hotspot grouping, enter afrihost into the APN field*.

iOS9
  1. Tap on the Settings icon.

  2. In the Settings menu select Cellular.

  3. Select Cellular Data Network.

  4. Under the Cellular Data grouping, enter afrihost into the APN field*.

  5. Under the MMS grouping, enter afrihost into the APN field*.

  6. Under the Personal Hotspot grouping, enter afrihost into the APN field*.

iOS7/8

For iPhone

  1. Tap on the Settings icon.

  2. In the Settings menu select Mobile.

  3. Select Mobile Data Network.

  4. Under the Mobile Data grouping, enter afrihost into the APN field*.

  5. Under the MMS grouping, enter afrihost into the APN field*.

  6. Under the Personal Hotspot grouping, enter afrihost into the APN field*.


For iPad

  1. Tap on the Settings icon.

  2. In the Settings menu select Cellular Data.

  3. Select APN Settings and enter afrihost into the APN field*.

  4. Under the MMS grouping, enter afrihost into the APN field*.

  5. Under the Personal Hotspot grouping, enter afrihost into the APN field*.

iOS6
  1. Tap on the Settings icon.

  2. In the Settings menu select General.

  3. Select Cellular or Mobile Data.

  4. Under the Mobile Data Network grouping, enter afrihost into the APN field*.

  5. Under the MMS grouping, enter afrihost into the APN field*.

  6. Under the Personal Hotspot grouping, enter afrihost into the APN field*.

* IMPORTANT: Ensure all letters are lowercase and there are NO spaces before or after 'afrihost'.

 
 

Android 5.0+
Lollipop/Marshmallow/Nougat

  1. Open the Settings app.

  2. Under Wireless & Networks, tap on More.

  3. Select Mobile Networks.

  4. Select Access Point Names.

  5. Tap on the Plus (+) button to create a new APN.

  6. Enter afrihost into the Name and APN fields.

  7. Tap on the More button.

  8. Select Save.

  9. Delete all other APNs**.

Android 4.0/4.1
Ice Cream Sandwich or Jellybean
  1. Tap on Menu or Apps.

  2. Tap Settings > More Settings

  3. Select Mobile Networks.

  4. Tap on Mobile Data.

  5. Select Access Point Names and enter afrihost into the APN field*.

  6. Press the menu button and select Save.

  7. Delete all other APNs**.

Android 2.3/3.0
Gingerbread or Honeycomb
  1. Tap on Menu or Applications.

  2. Tap Settings > Wireless and Networks

  3. Select Mobile Networks.

  4. Select Access Point Names and enter afrihost into the APN field*.

  5. Select Save.

  6. Delete all other APNs**.

* IMPORTANT: Ensure all letters are lowercase and there are NO spaces before or after 'afrihost'.

** Ensure that afrihost is the only APN set up on your phone. This will help prevent your phone switching to incorrect APN settings.

 
 

Windows Phone 10

  1. In the App list, tap on Settings.

  2. Select Network & Wireless > Cellular & SIM > SIM Settings.

  3. Select Add Internet APN.

  4. Change the following settings:
    – Leave the Profile Name blank.
    – Enter afrihost into the APN field*.
    – Set Authentication Method to none.
    – Set IPV4/IPV6.
    – Tick 'Use this APN for LTE'.

  5. Select save and restart your device.

  6. After the device restarts, go back to Settings to apply the APN that has been created. You will know that the APN is working if the APN selected says 'Activated' and the LTE internet option says afrihost.

Windows Phone 7/8
  1. In the App list, tap on Settings.

  2. Select Cellular.

  3. Select Add Internet APN.

  4. Enter afrihost into the APN field*.

  5. Select Save.

  6. Delete all other APNs**.

* IMPORTANT: Ensure all letters are lowercase and there are NO spaces before or after 'afrihost'.

** Ensure that afrihost is the only APN set up on your phone. This will help prevent your phone switching to incorrect APN settings.

 
 

BlackBerry v10

  1. From the Home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen.

  2. Tap Settings to access System Settings.

  3. Go to Network Connections > Mobile Network > APN.

  4. Enter afrihost into the Name and APN fields*.

  5. Select Save.

  6. Delete all other APNs**.

BlackBerry v4-6
  1. Select Settings > Options.

  2. Complete one of the following:
    – V4.0 or earlier, click TCP/IP.
    – V4.1-5.0, click Advanced Options > TCP/IP.
    – V6.0, click Device > Advanced System Settings > TCP/IP

  3. Enter afrihost into the APN field*.

  4. Press the Menu Key.

  5. Select Save.

  6. Delete all other APNs**.

Nokia Symbian Belle

  1. Select Menu > Settings > Connectivity.

  2. In the Connectivity menu, select Settings > Destinations.

  3. Select the Access Point in use.

  4. Tap on the Access Point Name and enter afrihost into the Name and APN fields*.

  5. Tap Options and Save.

  6. Delete all other APNs**.

* IMPORTANT: Ensure all letters are lowercase and there are NO spaces before or after 'afrihost'.

Mobile Wi-Fi Devices

  1. Insert your SIM card into the Mobile Wi-Fi Device.

  2. Open your Wi-Fi settings on your computer or tablet and connect to the Mobile Wi-Fi Device Network.

  3. Open your web browser and type 192.168.8.1 into your address bar.

  4. Use these login details:
    Username - admin
    Password - admin

  5. Navigate to the settings section and click on the APN tab**.

  6. Enter afrihost into the APN field and click save*.

* IMPORTANT: Ensure all letters are lowercase and there are NO spaces before or after 'afrihost'.

** This function is not available on a mobi site, make sure to use your computer or tablet to log in.

Once your device is set up, you can verify that you are on the Afrihost Network
